Companies and individuals are becoming increasingly climate-conscious and are re-thinking the entire approach to how they operate. And COP26 may further influence this.
That's why we're producing a series of articles to help companies mitigate the issues and take advantage of the opportunities created by the transition to a low carbon economy.
COP (Conference of the Parties) is the most significant global climate change event to take place each year. It is attended by countries that signed the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC), a treaty agreed in 1994. From 1-12 November 2020, those countries gathered in Glasgow for the 26th meeting of its kind.
The summit brings parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UNFCC. The meeting plays a crucial role in encouraging the road to post-covid recovery to be more sustainable as governments begin their efforts to "build back better". The UK Government set out last year an ambitious ten-point plan for a green industrial revolution and was a blueprint to allow the UK to forge ahead with eradicating its contribution to climate change by 2050.
